The Semicolon Project is a collective community where survivors of suicidal ideation and people who have lost loved ones to suicide draws a semi colon tattoo on their wrist reminding themselves that they’ve survived. I have a semicolon tattoo on my wrist too. Everyday that I struggle with my mental health, my tattoo reminds me of what I’ve survived and of the strength it took me to survive those days. If you’re struggling with your mental health today, I want you to know that even though it might feel like a lonely journey, you’re not alone. This is a belief that I needed to hold on to during my darkest days and I’m thankful for each day I’m alive.
I recently started therapy and I’ve been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Giving a name to how I feel was a huge relief and a huge step in my healing process. Seeking help and support was a difficult, but necessary step. I still struggle with my mental health and some days are particularly bad. But that’s life and I keep holding on to life because that’s all we have!
I hope you find the strength to heal, wherever you are in this journey. I hope that you know that you are loved and wanted.
