It was the year 2000, I had one of the best jobs in the country, and had just received a promotion. But I was feeling deeply unhappy at work. I fell ill frequently and was completely burnt out. I was just 35 and a lot of my hair had gone grey, I had cholesterol bags on my eyelids and my marriage was on the verge of collapse.
As a result of the promotion I was sent to a management development programme which had a deep focus on self awareness and growth. When we started I was very sceptical. But when I came back from the training, I could feel a subtle but sure change in my life. At work, I was now taking assignments which I enjoyed. There was more understanding and kindness between me and my husband now and I enjoyed and engaged with my children more. The change was so profound that I started feeling healthier and happier- so much that even the cholesterol bags disappeared!
It was then that I decided that this kind of learning about self growth should be available to every executive who live in a whirlwind of high pressure priorities. And often suffer from physical, mental and emotional burnout. And so I became an executive educator and coach. I wanted to be doing the kind of work which had changed my life. I have coached more than ten thousand executives till now. I am sixty but I feel thirty and very very happy. Somebody helped me learn to drive my own life. And since then that is what I do- help others learn to drive their own life their own way, embrace their own worth."
